SHARPER NIGHT Catania 2018

A long live stream created by PI4 in Catania which recorded a record audience and attendance for the 2018 edition of the European Researchers’ Night, an initiative promoted by the European Union, which involved over 300 European cities and 52 Italian cities. The event programme took place among the LNS, at University Square for a night of music, shows, science, exhibition pavilions and games. The philosophy that has always guided the European Researchers’ Night which saw thousands of people spend a night among laboratories, conferences, installations, interactive experiments, games for adults and children is “Exploring, learning through fun”.

CRIS2018: 11th Cosmic Ray International Seminar

The “Multimessaggero Astronomy” was the midpoint of the CRIS 2018 seminar (Cosmic Ray International Seminar), held in Portopalo di Capo Passero (SR). Research and study through the coordinated detection of cosmic rays, gamma rays, high-energy neutrinos and gravitational waves give way to a new astronomy. The Seminar was attended by many scientists from the field of astroparticle physics and representatives of important projects such as the LIGO – VIRGO Collaboration.

The Conference was organised by the division of Catania and Naples of the INFN, by the Department of Physics “E. Pancini ”of the University of Naples“ Federico II ”, by the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Catania.

The team of the Ideeventi section of PI4 was at the conference with the administrative office for the coordination and management of the whole Event. In addiction there was a multilingual staff for the reception of the participants, for the collection of registration fees on site, for the supervision of catering services and organisation of the dinner at the “Castello Tafuri” in Portopalo of Capo Passero.

PI4 also oversaw the communication of the event with video interviews and the preparation and publication of Press Releases.

 

 

EST-Science Meeting 11-15 June 2018

The first European solar telescope project is dedicated to the study of the physical processes that characterize our star.

This year, at the AtaHotel Naxos Beach Resort in Giardini Naxos, Sicily hosted the international congress dedicated to the design of the European Solar Telescope (EST): a 4-day kermis where numerous scientific cases were presented and discussed, both by SAG members and by researchers who were involved in the project at a later time.

The European Solar Telescope is promoted by EAST (European Association for Solar Telescopes), a consortium which includes institutes from 17 European nations. The project coordinator is prof. Manuel Collados Vera of the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC). Regarding Italy, in addition to the University of Catania, there were other participates such as the National Institute for Astrophysics and the Universities of Calabria and Rome Tor Vergata.

 

 

 

The main purpose of the EST Science Meeting, organized as part of the H2020 PRE-EST project, was to present to the sector’s specialists the document called “Science Requirement Document”, formulated in recent months by EST’s Science Advisory Group (SAG) , to identify the technical specifications of the telescope, and in particular those relating to all the focal plane instruments.


 

 

The PI4 team oversaw the planning and coordination of the multimedia communication of the event, the production of multimedia content and video interviews.

It has collaborated for the preparation and publication of the ex ante and ex post press releases of the event.
