EGI Conference and INDIGO Summit 2017

An International Conference organized on the mandate of two projects, INDIGO DataCloud and EGI-Engage, funded by the European Community under the Horizon 2020 Program. The event was held in Catania from 9 to 12 May at the “Le Ciminiere” Exhibition Center. There were 200 guests coming from different countries.

The EGI Conference 2017 ( was the EGI Community’s main event of 2017 and the last meeting organised in the context of the EGI-Engage project. The programme focused on the technical roadmap of EGI, with days dedicated to authorisation and authentication, compute services both HTC and cloud, as well as storage and data services and uptake of the services in scientific communities.

The INDIGO Summit 2017 ( was the flagship event of the INDIGO-DataCloud project, with a focus on user engagement and the INDIGO service catalogue. This event was centered on exploring the solutions provided by the INDIGO software, applying them to concrete use cases brought forward by scientific communities and resource providers.

EGI-INDIGO workshop on community application support

This interactive workshop support scientific communities in the integration and development of domain-specific applications with e-infrastructure services. The event brings together representatives of scientific communities, projects, Research Infrastructures with the developers and providers of EGI & INDIGO-DataCloud e-infrastructure software and services.

The workshop is dedicated to resource providers and researchers from all disciplines, all around Europe. Researchers working in Biological and Medical science, Social science and Humanities, Environmental and Earth science and Physics and Astrophysics will have the opportunity to also learn about the uses cases already developed by the project.

The event is also been the opportunity for service providers or service integrators to understand how the INDIGO solutions and services are appealing for industry, and to which extent they might be beneficial for service offerings and business adoption.

PI4 managed the collection of registration fees paid by participants through the web and on site; Has managed all the services of the secretariat of the organization; Has organized catering services and social dinner “Gran Galà” at the prestigious and historic location “Palazzo Biscari” in Catania



Training PI4 – Introduction on Media-based Education and Communication


The digital video is an essential reality in all the user-friendly communication processes using the new customary technologies like smartphone and tablet, and the new distribution channels as YouTube (, Vimeo (, dailymotion (, metacafè (, and softwares as Adobe Premiere.
We have make a brief introduction of scientific and technology communication and we have begun with a short discussion about relationship between, teaching, learning and technology by the use of video in education (e-Learning)
a short description of different kind of videos used in higher education.
The increased use of video as a teaching medium is encroaching onto traditional face-to face teaching in higher education.
This affects lecturers, students, universities and colleges and there is a need to bridge the gap in digital competencies the opportunity to disconnect video from a set time and review out of classrooms is an important result of technology and video is wearing a transformation in the educational panorama creating interaction between students and teacher of the world.

During our course we have explained planning and creation techniques of tutorial videos (e-Learning), screencast, streaming videos, shot, editing and post- production, which includes chromatic regulations, texts, transactions. The course has been organized in three main sections. • Creation and use of screencast • Creation and and use of streaming • Creation of tutorial video, editing and post-production The course included both theoretical and practical parts.
